Jedna z najbardziej charakterystycznych ikon II wojny światowej. W 1940 r. Rząd amerykański ogłosił konkurs na projekt lekkiego wielozadaniowego pojazdu terenowy z napędem na cztery koła. American Bantan Company, Willis Overland and Motor Co. sporządziły projekty. Ostatecznie wybrano projekt opracowany przez zespół firmy Willys, który wdrożono do produkcji na początku 1941 r. całkowita liczba pojazdów wynosi 640 tys. sztuk. Jeep Willys był najbardziej produkowanym pojazdem w okresie II wojny światowej.

In 1940, after the World War II had broken out, the US general staff ordered various factories to design light multi purpose vehicle with all wheel drive. The American Bantan Company, Willis Overland and Motor Co. Completed answered. Eventually they chose Willis prototype which after initial run of 1500, went into mass production at the beginning of 1941. 640 000 cars left assembly lines (277 000 Jeeps were produced by Ford on a licence agreement). As a result the Jeep was the most produced light car of the war industry during World War II.
